Firstly check your link was received, and that your friend or family member has made the payment. Payments normally arrive within 2 hours. If the payment still hasn't been received, please ask them to check with their bank first.

Yes. Link Pay uses Open Banking which is a way you can safely share information with other banks. You can find out more about Open Banking here.
You should never open a message from someone you do not know. And if you have any doubts about the identity of someone contacting you, make sure you speak to them first using a number you trust.
